Storyline :
In the span of a single day, the town of Silverton is ravaged by an unprecedented onslaught of tornadoes. The entire town is at the mercy of the erratic and deadly cyclones, even as storm trackers predict the worst is yet to come. Most people seek shelter, while others run towards the vortex, testing how far a storm chaser will go for that once-in-a-lifetime shot.

I had the honor of seeing an advanced screening of this movie, and it was better and worse than I thought it would be. Yes, this movie has all those typical clichés, and characters that have predictable outcomes, but the epic storm scenes made it worth all the other boring scenes. One thing I will point out is that his is filmed like a documentary, and they don't mention that in the genre or in the trailers. I wish I would have known that before seeing it because it was not what I was expecting at all. Most of it is filmed from a teenagers perspective, and from the perspective of a storm chasers crew. For some reason, with the filming being done in this way made me feel less attached to the characters. I didn't really care about the main characters as much as I would have liked to, but that doesn't mean I wasn't entertained throughout most of the movie. I was not expecting some scenes to be as emotional as they were, and they try really hard to make you cry, and it worked on me (mostly because I cry at nearly anything that's sad) but the mood of the theater changed in those scenes. If it wasn't for the epic tornado scenes this movie would not have been good at all, but the effects they used made me feel terrified of tornadoes. If I was afraid of storms before this movie I'm even more terrified now.

Overall, this movie was just okay. The storm scenes were epic, but it took a long time to actually get into the storm scenes, and to be honest there were not as many storm scenes as I was expecting from a movie that is based entirely on storms. I probably wouldn't watch it again, but it was entertaining while it lasted. This is probably one you can rent though.
