On a train journey in Warsaw, psychiatrist Shaina meets Himanshu, who is a police officer from India to discuss their prospective marriage. Both are reluctant to enter into an arranged union but become friends and strike a deep conversation where Shaina reveals her previous relationship with the eccentric Devi, a man who lived only for his 'Kick' aka an adrenaline rush . Despite his idiosyncrasies they embark on a whirlwind romance, until one day he breaks up with her for a new 'Kick' and walks away never to return. Himanshu in turn regales her with his glorious escapades as an officer but mentions that he has finally met his match, an intelligent thief. What they are both unaware of is that their stories have one thing in common, Devi. He returns to their lives under the pretext of having lost his memory. Behind it all, is a deeper mystery and an uncompromising mission for which Devi is ready to lose his life.

Storyline:    

Shaina (Jaqueline Fernandez) is a Psychiatrist living in Poland. One day, her father brings a marriage proposal and asks her to meet Himanshu (Randeep Hooda). Himanshu and Shaina meet in a train were Shaina reveals about her ex-boyfriend, Devi Lal (Salman Khan). Shaina then starts to tell her experience with him.

Devi Lal is an adventurous youth, who is always looking for a kick or adventure in life. Due to his daring and daredevil attitude, he could not stay in one job for long and has resigned from 32 companies as he feels that the kick is missing. Shaina first meet Devi when she was trying to help her friend to elope with her lover to get married. Devi rescues them from goons and helps with the marriage. But Shaina develops instant hatred towards Devi, because of his "kick" attitude. Later, when she realises that Devi is good hearted person, she starts to fall for him eventually. Shaina and Devi decides to get married and following Shaina's suggestion, Devi finds job in a chemical lab, though he resigns it in few days. Shaina comes to know about it and breaks up with him. After this episode, Shaina leaves for Poland, where her parents live.

Himanshu also revels to Shaina that he is a police inspector and has come to Poland to catch a thief. Himanshu starts to his story of his encounter with a robber called Devil. The robber targets all the rich people associated with Firoz (Nawazuddin Siddiqui) 'a corrupt businessmen' and robs them just for fun. The robber is none other than Devi. After Himanshu is unsuccessful in catching Devil , Devi contacts Himanshu and refers to him as "Partner" and insults him by calling him a looser. He also hints were Devil's next robbery will be, which brings Himanshu to Poland.

Meanwhile, Shaina spots Devi in Poland and comes to know that he has lost his memory in an accident, thus came to Poland for treatment. Shaina approaches the concerned doctor and being a Psychiatrist herself offers to handle Devi's case and decides to take her home. It is later revealed that Devi is just bluffing, as his real plan is to fool Himanshu and rob Firoz who will be coming to Poland for a deal worth crores of rupees. Devi befriends with Himanshu and manages to enter a charity function and robs Firoz who was about to invest huge money in a foreign firm. During the robbery Himanshu and Shaina comes to know about Devil's true identity. After robbing that money, Devi again challenges Himanshu that he is going to rob huge party fund on 14th November. At this juncture, Devi's father (Mithun Chakraborty) reveals the flashback to Shaina that his son is doing all those robberies to help poor children, who are suffering from diseases and need lakhs of rupees for treatment. Later, Devi disguised as Devil goes to steal party fund only to find Firoz waiting for him, along with his gang. Devi beats them all and after killing Firoz, handover all the money to his father. While escaping from police Himanshu tries to shoot Devi but hundreds of children blocks his way. In the climax Devi joins the police force and the home minister hands him the Devil's case, while Devi and Shaina gets together again.

Production Development :

In 2009, Raviteja was first approached for lead role in the Hindi remake. Later it was announced that producer Sajid Nadiadwala had signed A. R. Murugadoss as the director. Sirish Kunder was signed to direct the film after Murugadoss was unable to direct the film. Salman Khan and Jacqueline Fernandez had been signed on to act in the film, directed by Sajid Nadiadwala. Apart from Ileana D'Cruz who starred in the original 2009 film of the same name, Deepika Padukone,Anushka Sharma,Sonakshi Sinha, Priyanka Chopra and supermodel Angela Jonsson were also considered for the female lead, however Fernandez eventually secured the role. US based Abhijat Joshi, who had written the script of Munna Bhai M.B.B.S. and Lage Raho Munnabhai was approached to write the script of the film in 2009. Nadiawala wanted the script to be prepared during the release of 3 Idiots when Joshi had come back to India.[Chetan Bhagat eventually wrote the script for the film.Apart from India, the film is released in France, Germany, Maldives and 42 other countries. It will be screened on 4400 screens throughout India and about 700 screens in other countries.
